Everything has a point. The ultimate point of the Bible is to provide a foundation needed to restore a fallen and sinful human to a holy and unchanging God. This section of the lesson is called The Pointe because of the picture. Above all else, this stands the tallest. This is what you should see when you look at this topic.

What does the Christian want to say about this issue? How can it be said in such a way that no one will miss the Pointe?

Everything has a point. The point is the reason we do something. The point is what a preacher wants you to do because of what he has said. The point is why you invest your money with a particular broker. The point is why you instill certain values into your children.

Have you ever thought, “What’s the point in this?” The next words in your head or out of your mouth were probably, “Then why should I do it?” Understanding the context of a passage of Scripture includes understanding the main point of the passage. What is the Bible trying to teach us?

The ultimate point of the Bible is to provide the foundation needed to restore fallen and sinful man to a holy and unchanging God. Each book in the Bible, each passage of the book teaches that in order to do that we must be different from the rest of the world. Jesus describes it as living “life in but not of the world.”

The point of this particular lesson is fellowship with other Christians is so important for being different from the world that we need to figure out how to do it, even when we are apart from one another. We need to realize that our adversary Satan will do anything to keep us separated from each other because that ultimately will keep us away from God.

This section of our lessons is called “The Pointe” – not just because I want to spell the word in a fancy, Old English way – like if I named my little specialty retail store a “Shoppe.” This part of the lesson is called “The Pointe” because of the image I want you to see every time you see this part of the lesson. Above all else, this is what should stand out. When you walk away from our time together on this subject, this is what you see first. It should be what you could tell to someone else. It should drive everything else that is written on these pages.

During a summer vacation in the Mediterranean, our ship sailed up a part of the Mediterranean Sea known as the Adriatic Sea. Our port of call was a place called Dubrovnik, home to the castle you see in the picture. The castle was the highest pointe in the area and could be seen by any oncoming vessel. People in the castle could see any ship that sailed into the area. You simply could not wander into this area and miss The Pointe.

Each of these sub-lessons are written to help you better understand the context of a passage of Scripture. By blending all of the five concepts in these lessons together, you will have a better grasp on how the Bible is trying to instruct and apply this teaching to your life.
