The New Testament makes many references to the Jewish Scripture to support the claims of early Christians that Jesus of Nazareth was the promised Messiah. From the time of Jesus until today, many faithful Jewish believers have not accepted the interpretation of Scripture understood by Christians seeing Jesus has the Messiah. The Hebrew Scripture provided an important source for the New Testament writers. Many scholars see Luke making allusion to all but three Old Testament books. The book of Psalms contains Messianic prophecies as well as explanations of the Kingdom.

Some estimate the Old Testament contains 333 prophecies predicting the coming Messiah. Peter Stoner, in the amazing book, Science Speaks, calculated the chance of one man fulfilling only 48 of these prophecies. He understands the probability being 1:10157 – a statistically impossible number.
